ugh i'm really pissed.
i was lined up to illustrate this children's book for this russian woman, got the job last december... she wanted constant updates with how i was doing and i very politely told her that i was in school, and high school does tend to be a time suck. i said quite explicitly that i would work on them over the summer, when i had more free time (oh, and this is a "deadline-less" assignment).

just this week i got an email asking me how i was going on the project; i told her that i'm STILL IN SCHOOL, it's FINALS WEEK, and i MAY end up dropping the illustration job. not will, may. she's just like, oh, ok, i understand, mail me back my deposit and it was nice working with you! i email her back: i don't think you understood me, i want to try to flesh out some of the ideas still, because if i can do it, it would be great. i get a reply: there's another artist waiting to JUMP on this job, so i'm going to go ahead and give it to them. mail me back my check.

it's actually kind of a relief, i had this hanging over my head like a dead goose for months now, but not even being allowed to TRY kind of just kills the whole thing. my parents are going to be disappointed to the max.

ugh for the past week i've had the most horrendous cold/ sinus infection... it made me miss two days of school (plus a snow day) so i'll be terribly behind, but i'll have to make it work.

just felt like getting that holiday journal outta here. if i continue any further i'll start sounding delirious.

i'm working on some new projects right now, thought i'd update you guys on them-

SHOES! i got my hands on a pair of white canvas vans and have been drawing away on them. i completed one of them the other day, and hope to finish up the second one today (or sometime this week). octopuses. gotta love them.

commissionnnnnn. corina has been gracious enough to turn her boyfriend's birthday present into a christmas present because i couldn't get it done fast enough i'm still working away at it! almost done!

then just school stuff... my art teacher wants to enter another drawing that's only partway done into scholastic. right now there's only one submission from me, that horrible coat drawing that actually turned out kind of amazing. ah well.

and then- ROBERT PATTINSON AS EDWARD CULLEN?! what the HELL were the casting people smoking when they cast him? DX *uber distressed*

i've decided i'm going to get off my ass now that i'm better, and make something really great. i don't know what it is yet, but that's how most of my ideas work. a random scribble on a napkin or post it note. i'll get there. it's going to be in process if not finished by the end of this year. i've just been so sick of doing drawings of just school work, and as easy and fun as commissions can be, they aren't that... inspiring? i want to make something incredible again!

my cold is gone too. i just hope it stays gone. a ton of people at my school have been getting mono (makes you wonder who's gettin around, huh? ) and i really hope it skips me.

and i'm so excited for the holidays!!! my birthday is in less than a month, and then christmas! i can't wait to start decorating, but, alas, i must wait a couple more months. on a completely unrelated note, i saw across the universe the other day and it was great. well made, and the soundtrack was awesome.

I have been ill for the past 3 weeks, on and off, and I simply CANNOT shake whatever it is. i'm getting severe sharp headaches, stomach pains, lightheadedness... symptoms vary day to day, which is infuriating. I've been out 3 times this year already, and I've only been in school for about a month. I only have 2 sick days left this semester before they start fining me and all because I don't have a little doctor's note.

This is completely stopping my creative process, as well. I can't write or draw (but i AM working on those commissions!) so my english and art classes are suffering accordingly. I'm determined to get over this, whatever it is. I just hope it isn't anything serious, because my family's overall health history is is a bit... distressing. Oh well.
And to add on to all of this nastiness, today some jerk freshman decided it would be fun to mess up my still life, a coat sitting on a table. Suffice it to say i've spent more than enough time TRYING to get it back in the original position, but i'm going to have to start over on that too. DX Life still rejects me. C'est la vie.
